ESD Education for Sustainable Development
From 2009 to 2016, Eyal Bloch trained close to a thousand Kenyan educators, from schoolmasters to senior officials in the Ministry of Education and then worked under TOP Global with Philippe Scheimann & TOP Kenya co-founders:
- ESD training (training of trainers) lead by Eyal Bloch:
- 800 school officials from headmasters to deputy minister
- 60 team members of Kenya Education Management Institute
- All team members of Centre for Mathematics, Science and Technology Education in Africa (CEMASTEA)
- 1st Kenyan ESD conference lead by Ministry of Education & TOP in 2017
- Connectedness and Leadership courses in green walls, food upcycling, open technology, documentaries
Impact
- 10 schools have shown very special outstanding results
- 13 institutions have become ESD TOP centers.
- 30 to 50 schools have solved their own problems (e.g. water pollution, food security…)
- Meaningful improvements in 200-300 schools
- The education syllabus has integrated ESD in all the schools (more than 23,000 ) in Kenya impacting more than 2 million pupils
- 800 green-walls all over Kenya in schools, churchs, families…
- Video on green-walls seen more than 50,000 times
- Green-walls provide a potential income up to $2 per day
