Green walls allow people to plant crops in a more efficient manner; vertically along the walls of their homes, schools, and other buildings. The benefit of this type of garden is that it allows for the local cash crop, tea, to continue to grow in the fields while providing food sources for the people.
Kitchen gardens have created unique, innovative, and sustainable ways to grow food. The kitchen garden program has been implemented in many schools and has developed well beyond just a new way to grow food; school attendance has risen, students are learning about sustainable development, and they are bringing home this new knowledge to their families.
Using every part of an avocado is a relatively new innovation. The seed is typically considered waste, but in the upcycling program the seed’s numerous health benefits can be explored and new uses for the skin can be developed. The seed is actually the most nutrient-dense part of the avocado and has been shown to help with reducing cholesterol and blood sugar and is a great source of antioxidants and vitamins, and an antifungal.
