The Green Wall project has provided immense benefits beyond the obvious one of food security. Green walls allow people to plant crops in a more efficient manner; vertically along the walls of their homes, schools, and other buildings. The benefit of this type of garden is that it allows for the local cash crop, tea, to continue to grow in the fields while providing food sources for the people.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>

The Green Wall program is sustainable because TOP encourages the use of 7 Golden Rules of Sustainability: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, Repair, Re-fuse, Rethink, and Repurpose! To increase long term sustainability of the Green Walls, it is imperative to teach the community these seven rules and train them on sustainability efforts using Education for Sustainable Development.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>

This project has also helped participants to change their ways of seeing and doing things and as a result to become more creative in their problem-solving abilities. The Green Wall program has helped people to become industrious, innovative, and independent.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>

Further, participants have said that TOP has helped them to realize that solutions lie within them at all times and what they need to do is discover their own potential and talents. Participants have also said that the Green Wall initiative and working with TOP has allowed them to stop seeing their difficulties as problems, and instead as challenges that need solutions.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>

As a result of TOP\u2019s work on the Green Wall project, more than ten primary schools have established their own gardens, and the students in these schools have benefited from lunch programs that have grown out of the gardens.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>
